A driver escaped serious injury after losing control of a vehicle on the rain-soaked eastbound lanes of Highway 407 near Mississauga Road on Monday afternoon.

Ontario Provincial Police say the single-vehicle crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. during heavy rainfall. The vehicle reportedly spun out, slammed into a guardrail, and continued through a stretch of deep grass before coming to a stop.

The driver, who was the only occupant, was taken to hospital as a precaution. Two eastbound lanes were temporarily closed while crews responded to the scene, with police expecting them to reopen by approximately 4 p.m.
