A pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 417 near Vanier Parkway in Ottawa on Thursday afternoon.
The collision occurred at approximately 2:48 p.m. and was followed by a secondary crash involving other vehicles in the same area. Paramedics responded to multiple minor collisions at the scene.
According to Ottawa paramedics, the pedestrian was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while another individual was assessed at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
The incident forced the closure of all eastbound lanes of Highway 417 for more than an hour, leading to significant traffic delays before the roadway was reopened.
