A 4-year-old child suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a pickup truck at a private campground near Boland Lake in La Salle Township on July 31.
Ontario Provincial Police responded to the incident at approximately 6 p.m. and determined the child was hit after the pickup truck began moving from a parked position along a campground access trail.
The child was airlifted to hospital for treatment. A physician who was nearby assisted first responders in caring for the child before transport.
Police said the driver remained at the scene and fully co-operated with the investigation. Investigators found no evidence that alcohol, drugs or criminal driving behaviour contributed to the incident, and no charges have been laid.
