An 18-year-old driver from Acton is facing charges after a single-vehicle crash near Guelph early Sunday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police responded around 4 a.m. to the intersection of Jones Baseline and Eastview Road, where they found a vehicle lodged in a wooded area. Crews had to use chainsaws to remove the vehicle from the forest.

Police allege the driver was distracted, entered the intersection at a high speed, ignored stop signs, and lost control before crashing into the trees. The driver was uninjured.

The 18-year-old has been charged with careless driving and using a handheld communication device while driving.
