Ottawa firefighters responded within minutes Thursday evening after an SUV crashed through the front window of a Scotiabank in Riverside South.

Crews were called by Ottawa police around 6:07 p.m. to the 600 block of Earl Armstrong Road, where they found the SUV several feet inside the bank.

The woman driving the vehicle, who is in her 40s, had already exited before emergency crews arrived. Firefighters assisted her until paramedics took over. She was transported to hospital in stable condition with minor injuries. Paramedics said she appeared to have suffered a medical episode.

Firefighters searched the building to confirm no one else was hurt and assessed the structural damage. Fire crews cleared the scene shortly after 7:20 p.m., while Ottawa police continued their investigation.
