Toronto Fire Services is warning about the risks of improperly discarded lithium-ion batteries after several batteries ignited inside a garbage truck in Etobicoke.
The fire broke out shortly before noon Thursday on Brydon Drive. Fire Chief Jim Jessop said multiple lithium-ion batteries that had been improperly disposed of caught fire inside the truck.
Firefighters quickly contained the blaze, and no injuries were reported.
