A garage fire caused extensive damage to a home and affected two neighbouring properties in Sault Ste. Marie Thursday evening.
Firefighters were called to Prentice Avenue around 5:30 p.m. after reports of a garage fire. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the detached garage and the nearby home, with neighbouring residences also exposed to the blaze.
Firefighters contained and extinguished the fire with assistance from PUC Services and Enbridge Gas.
An investigation determined the fire originated in the garage, but the extent of the damage prevented officials from identifying the exact cause.
The garage, home and a nearby vehicle sustained significant fire and smoke damage, while two neighbouring homes suffered heat and fire exposure damage. No injuries were reported.
