Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after a vehicle crashed in Guelph/Eramosa Township shortly after an attempted traffic stop by OPP officers.
Police said officers attempted to stop the vehicle shortly after midnight Sunday, but the driver continued. OPP did not pursue the vehicle, according to police.
The same vehicle was discovered crashed a short time later on Sideroad 10 between Wellington Road 27 and Sixth Line. Five people were inside, and no other vehicles were involved.
All five occupants were taken to hospital for assessment, with three later confirmed to have suffered injuries.
The roadway was closed for several hours while the incident was investigated and reopened at 8:23 p.m.
