A residential fire in Mississauga early Monday morning prompted a major emergency response and precautionary evacuations in the area.
Emergency crews were called to a home on Gardenview Crescent near Winston Churchill Boulevard around 1:05 a.m. after a fire broke out.
The blaze appeared to be contained to one residence, but nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution while firefighters worked at the scene. Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services confirmed that everyone inside the affected home was safely evacuated.
Paramedics assessed three people. One person was taken to a local trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries caused by smoke inhalation. Road closures remain in effect around Gardenview Crescent and Castlebridge Drive as emergency crews continue their work. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
