Residents are being evacuated from homes in south Ottawa after a propane tanker was involved in a crash Tuesday evening.
Ottawa police responded to a single-vehicle collision on Parkway Road near Cedar Lane in Greely shortly after 6:50 p.m. The tanker was found leaking propane following the crash.
Ottawa Fire Services is evacuating residences within an 800-metre radius of the collision as a precaution while crews work to transfer the propane to another vehicle.
The number of homes affected has not been confirmed. Ottawa paramedics said there have been no reported injuries.
Several roads in the area have also been closed as emergency crews manage the scene. The evacuation remained in place for nearly 12 hours before authorities determined that residents could safely return.
