A Mattawa man is facing impaired boating charges after a pontoon boat struck a dock on the Mattawa River Saturday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police were called to the Timmins Street area around 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 15 following reports of the collision. Officers spoke with the 58-year-old boat operator and determined there were grounds to suspect alcohol had been consumed.
The man was arrested and taken to the Mattawa OPP detachment for additional testing. He was subsequently charged with two offences related to impaired operation, including having a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit.
The accused was released and is due to appear in North Bay court on Sept. 15.
