Two young boys and a woman were taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in southwest Barrie Friday morning.

Police say the pedestrians, a 9-year-old boy, a 5-year-old boy and a woman, were crossing the road when they were hit by a vehicle at Mapleview Drive West and Garibaldi Drive shortly before 7 a.m.

Investigators say the vehicle was making a turn onto Garibaldi Drive when the collision occurred.

The 9-year-old was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The younger boy and the woman were airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where police later said both were in stable condition.

The female driver stayed at the scene following the crash. Police have not announced any charges and continue to investigate what led to the collision.

Mapleview Drive between Garibaldi Drive and Nakiska Court was temporarily closed for the investigation but has since reopened.
