A residential fire in Windsor’s Sandwich Town neighbourhood is being investigated as suspicious after flames spread from outside a home into the residence early Saturday morning.

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services responded to a home in the 3400 block of Bloomfield Road at approximately 2 a.m.

Officials say the fire began outside the property before extending into the house. The occupants were alerted by their smoke alarms and safely evacuated. No injuries were reported.

Damage is estimated at approximately $100,000.

The scene has been turned over to the Windsor Police Service Arson Unit, which is continuing the investigation.

Residents in the area are being asked to review security camera footage for any suspicious activity and provide police with any information that could assist investigators.
