Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a person was struck by a vehicle during a police response in Mississauga on Sunday.
Peel Regional Police were called to Viscount Road, between Network Road and Highway 409, shortly before noon following reports of two people fighting in the roadway.
Police say one of the individuals was struck by a passing vehicle as officers were arriving or had already reached the scene. The person suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Viscount Road remained closed for several hours and reopened shortly before 5 p.m. The Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate and is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. No further details have been released.
