An 11-year-old from North Bay has died following a serious collision involving a passenger vehicle and a dump truck on Highway 17.
The crash happened around 5:20 p.m. Monday in East Ferris Township, according to the Ontario Provincial Police. The child was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died.
Two other people travelling in the passenger vehicle were also hospitalized, though their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The OPP traffic incident management and enforcement team assisted with the investigation. Highway 17 remained closed for about six hours as officers examined the scene before reopening.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
