A 16-year-old e-scooter rider suffered life-altering injuries following a collision with a vehicle in Pickering on Tuesday evening.
The crash happened around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Whites Road and Finch Avenue, according to Durham Regional Police Service.
Police say a northbound Toyota Sienna was turning right onto Finch Avenue when it struck the teen, who was travelling through the intersection in the crosswalk on an electric scooter.
Emergency crews transported the teenager to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where he remains in stable condition. The 43-year-old driver stayed at the scene.
Police closed roads in the area for several hours while officers investigated. The crash remains under investigation.
