A farm tractor operator has died following a two-vehicle collision near Vankleek Hill.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to the crash on Highway 34 near Ridge Road shortly before 9 p.m. Monday. The collision involved a passenger vehicle and a farm tractor. An initial investigation indicates that a vehicle crashed into the rear of a trailer being towed by the tractor.

The tractor operator, identified as 59-year-old Pierre Cusson from East Hawkesbury, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 34 remained closed for several hours while police investigated the crash and the roadway was cleared. It reopened around 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen the tractor travelling along Highway 34 before the collision to contact the Hawkesbury OPP detachment.
