A 48-year-old Walpole Island First Nation resident has died after being struck by an SUV late Friday night.
Emergency crews were called to Chiefs Road, between Tecumseh Road and Austin Road, at approximately 11:21 p.m. on Sept. 12 following a collision involving the vehicle and a pedestrian.
Members of the Walpole Island Police Service, assisted by the Lambton County OPP and paramedics, responded to the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the location.
Chiefs Road was shut down for several hours as investigators examined the scene. The roadway has since reopened.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
