A Saturday evening fire at a condominium complex in south Barrie damaged four apartment units and part of the building’s roof, prompting an evacuation of residents.
Barrie fire crews were called to Chef Lane shortly before 6:40 p.m. on Sept. 12 after receiving multiple reports of a fire. Eight fire trucks and a platoon chief were dispatched, with firefighters remaining at the scene until about 10:08 p.m.
Deputy Fire Chief Thomas Bezruki said the blaze was confined to four units and a section of the roof. Police and building management evacuated tenants while firefighters worked to bring the fire under control.
Residents were allowed to return once the building was deemed safe, with re-entry beginning around 9:30 p.m. and taking place one floor at a time.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.
