A 39-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing a marked TTC pickup truck in downtown Toronto, crashing into several vehicles while fleeing police and injuring two people.
Toronto police said the incident began around 11:23 a.m. on Sept. 11 near College Street and Bay Street, where officers responded to a report of a stolen TTC vehicle.
Investigators allege the suspect drove away in the truck and struck multiple vehicles during the escape. Two people sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The stolen truck was later located near Eglinton Avenue West and Royal York Road in Etobicoke, where police arrested the suspect.
Andrew Boomer faces charges including theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation, failing to stop for police, dangerous operation causing bodily harm, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, operation while prohibited, breach of probation and two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
Boomer appeared in court on Sept. 12.
Police say they are investigating whether additional victims may be connected to the suspect’s driving before his arrest. Investigators are asking anyone with dashcam or security footage of the incident or surrounding areas to come forward.
