A driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries Wednesday after their sedan crashed through a guard rail and ended up in Guelph Lake.
Wellington County OPP and emergency crews were called to Wellington Road 124 at around 10:30 a.m. after reports that a vehicle had left the roadway and was sinking in the lake.
Several bystanders stepped in to help the driver, who was trapped inside the submerged car. The driver was eventually brought safely to shore before being assessed by paramedics and transported to hospital.
Police found damage to a nearby guard rail and determined that no other vehicles were involved.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by Wellington County OPP.
