A 92-year-old resident has died following an early morning fire at a seniors residence in Fort Frances on Tuesday.
Emergency crews were called to Rose Manor on Sixth Street East around 5:22 a.m. on Sept. 22. Firefighters entered the building after reports that someone remained inside and located the 92-year-old victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
All other residents were safely evacuated and provided with temporary accomodations. Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Services said the apartment fire took several hours to extinguish.
The cause and circumstances of the fire remain under investigation by the OPP Fort Frances Crime Unit, working with the Office of the Fire Marshal and the Office of the Chief Coroner.
