A residential fire in Toronto’s east end prompted an early-morning emergency response Saturday.
Firefighters were called to a home near Gerrard Street East and Jones Avenue shortly before 8 a.m. The occupants had already made it outside safely by the time crews arrived.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke while conducting a full search of the house. The blaze was contained to the residence but also damaged a backyard fence.
Crews had the fire under control shortly before 9 a.m. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
