A head-on collision between two passenger vehicles in Kemptville left one person dead and five others injured Sunday morning.
The crash occurred on County Road 44, just north of Beach Road, at approximately 9:30 a.m.
Six people were taken to Ottawa Hospital’s Civic campus for treatment. One vehicle was carrying four occupants, including an 18-year-old woman from Russell who later died from her injuries. Two other occupants in that vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries.
The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were also hospitalized with serious injuries.
County Road 44 remained closed for several hours as investigators examined the scene before reopening shortly after 5 p.m.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
