Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating a collision involving an Ontario Provincial Police cruiser and another vehicle in Lanark County.
The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. on Sept. 30, on Highway 7 near Carleton Place. A Lanark County OPP officer was responding to an investigation when the police vehicle was involved in the collision.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 71-year-old Ottawa woman, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. She was later released. The officer sustained minor injuries.
The OPP reported the incident to the SIU, which subsequently invoked its mandate to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
