A 15-year-old is facing multiple charges after a vehicle carrying three people left a roadway in Owen Sound and ended up near the shoreline of Georgian Bay early Sunday.
The incident happened around 2:05 a.m. in the 2900 block of 3rd Avenue West. Police say the vehicle crossed a grassy area before going down an embankment roughly 20 feet and coming to a stop close to the water.
Two occupants left the crash site before emergency crews arrived, but officers located them shortly afterward. Paramedics treated two people at the scene. Another occupant was transported to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The teen has been charged with impaired driving involving alcohol and drugs, having a prohibited blood-alcohol concentration, dangerous operation, taking a motor vehicle without consent and driving without a licence.
The accused was released and is due in court in November. Their identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
