A space heater is believed to have sparked a residential fire in South Huron early Wednesday morning, causing an estimated $250,000 in damage.

South Huron fire crews were called to the home at approximately 4 a.m. All occupants managed to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported.

Crediton Road was temporarily closed between Babylon Line and Parr Line/King Street as emergency crews responded to the blaze.

At about 6:20 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police confirmed officers had cleared the scene, with county officials taking over management of access to the affected area while the closure remained in effect.

Crediton Road has since reopened. The suspected cause of the fire is a space heater.
