A 13-year-old cyclist is recovering in hospital after being struck by a car Thursday night in Kitchener. Police responded to the scene at the intersection of Westmount Road E. and Ottawa Street S. just before 10 p.m., where a Toyota Corolla had collided with the teen.

The child was taken to a hospital outside the region with non-life-threatening injuries. The 23-year-old driver of the Corolla, a man from Kitchener, was uninjured.

The intersection was closed for several hours while police conducted their investigation, which is still ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward and contact police or Crime Stoppers.
