A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Secondary School in Mississauga on Monday morning, according to Peel Regional Police.
The teen, a Grade 9 student, was riding his bike when the collision occurred. He was airlifted to a trauma centre with serious injuries but was reported to be conscious and breathing.
The incident happened before the start of the school day, and the driver remained at the scene. CP24 footage shows what appears to be a bicycle wedged under a black SUV.
The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board acknowledged that many students may have witnessed the incident and encouraged those affected to seek support from school staff or student services. The teen’s parents have been notified. The exact circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.
