A 16-year-old girl from Bobcaygeon has died following a two-vehicle collision in the Kawartha Lakes region, while another person remains in critical condition.
Emergency crews responded to the crash at the intersection of County Road 49 and Burys Green Road shortly before 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
Ontario Provincial Police say the teenage driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the second vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital by air ambulance. The driver of that vehicle was not injured.
The roadway was closed for several hours between White Valley Road and Somerville 3rd Concession as investigators examined the scene, reopening early Sunday morning.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision and are asking witnesses or anyone with relevant information or video footage to contact investigators.
