A 17-year-old from Thorndale has died following a fatal crash in Middlesex County involving a small SUV and a feed truck.

The collision occurred on Medway Road, just east of Medway High School, prompting a full road closure between Richmond Street and Adelaide Street for several hours as police investigated.

Initial reports from the OPP suggest the SUV was heading east when it crossed the center line and collided with the westbound feed truck. The force of the crash caused the truck to veer into a ditch, striking a hydro pole, while debris from the SUV was scattered across the road.

The driver of the feed truck sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as the investigation continues.

Update – The 17-year-old killed in the collision is identified as Gavin DeClark, a student of Medway High School. DeClark’s friends have planned a public candlelight vigil for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET, taking place on the Medway High School football field, where the flag now flies at half-mast in his honor.
