A 17-year-old from Wellington County was taken into custody Friday night following a series of dangerous encounters with police while allegedly impaired.

Guelph police were alerted shortly before 10 p.m. by another service that a suspect vehicle had struck two police cruisers during an attempted traffic stop. Officers later found the vehicle in a parking lot near Woodlawn Road East. When police moved in, the driver tried to escape but crashed into a fence.

To prevent further movement, officers used a cruiser to block the vehicle and make the arrest. Three passengers were inside the car at the time, though no one was hurt.

At the police station, testing revealed the driver had a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. She now faces multiple charges, including impaired and dangerous driving, fleeing police, and failing to remain at the scene of a collision. She is scheduled to appear in court on January 28.
