A 17-year-old girl is in critical condition at a trauma center after the vehicle she was driving plunged into a body of water in Georgina over the weekend.
York Regional Police responded to the scene at Metro Road and Lagoon Drive around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, where they found only the rear tires of the vehicle visible, with the rest submerged. Authorities say a passenger was able to escape with minor injuries, but the driver had to be rescued by emergency crews.
Investigators are now seeking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the crash to come forward.
