A 17-year-old from Portland, Ont., has been charged with impaired driving after a single-vehicle crash shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

Police say the teen was trapped in the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. A breath test showed alcohol levels far above the legal limit. Charges include driving as a novice with a zero-tolerance alcohol requirement and impaired driving involving alcohol and drugs.

The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. A court appearance in the Ontario Court of Justice is expected at a later date.
