A 19-year-old woman from Chatham-Kent has been charged with impaired driving after her car struck a train early Thursday morning. Police responded to Colborne Street around 12:19 a.m. and found the vehicle just off the tracks, showing signs of impact with the train.

The driver, who was uninjured, had exited the car before officers arrived. Train officials stopped the locomotive to assess the damage, which was later confirmed. Police determined the woman was impaired, and breath tests showed blood alcohol levels over the legal limit.

She was arrested, charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, and released with a court date set for November 18, 2025.
