A 21-year-old Wainfleet man is facing a criminal charge after a fatal crash in Pelham earlier this year.
Niagara Regional Police say the collision happened on 4:20 p.m. on March 1 on Victoria Avenue between Wiley and Foss roads. A 2019 Lincoln MKX struck a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 71-year-old Burlington man from behind, pushing it into a ditch. The older man died from his injuries two days later.
Following an investigation, police arrested and charged the younger driver on April 9 with dangerous driving causing death. He had already been facing related charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
The accused appeared for a bail hearing in St. Catharines on Thursday.
