Ottawa police are asking the public for information after a 21-year-old motorcyclist died following a hit-and-run collision Friday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the area of West Hunt Club Road and Merivale Road shortly before 6 a.m. after a motorcycle collided with another vehicle.
The motorcyclist suffered critical injuries and was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, where she later died.
Police say the other vehicle left the scene before officers arrived. Investigators are now searching for a dark-coloured SUV that may have front-end and right-side damage from the collision.
The Fatal Collision Investigation Unit is leading the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant dashcam, surveillance or other footage is asked to contact Ottawa police.
The affected roads were reopened at approximately 11:15 a.m.
