A fatal head-on collision occurred Wednesday morning on Highway 17 near Dryden, involving a pickup truck and a transport truck.
Emergency crews, including Ontario Provincial Police, fire services, and EMS, responded to the crash around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection with Latimer Road in Oxdrift.
A 27-year-old man from Sioux Lookout, who was driving the pickup truck, died at the scene. The transport truck’s passenger sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
The highway was closed for several hours while investigators and reconstruction teams examined the scene. It has since reopened.
