A 27-year-old Vaughan man has died after a single-vehicle collision in Thorold.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to the crash at approximately 11:15 p.m. Saturday. Police say the sedan was travelling northbound on Highway 58 when the driver lost control and struck a steel guardrail.

The driver was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died.

Highway 58 was closed between Thorold Stone Road and Niagara Falls Road for several hours as investigators examined the scene.

The cause of the crash has not been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
