Four people were taken to hospital following a five-vehicle collision involving a dump truck in Markdale on Wednesday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police said the crash occurred around 9:40 a.m. on Highway 10, also known as Toronto Street, north of Road 110. Investigators determined that the dump truck struck several passenger vehicles.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Two other drivers sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to trauma centres for treatment.

Highway 10 remained closed for several hours while police investigated the collision before reopening at 7:08 p.m. The investigation remains ongoing.
