A 33-year-old man from Wabigoon Lake First Nation is facing impaired and dangerous driving charges after a crash early Saturday at the Laura Howe Marsh parking area, marking the second time in just over a month he has been charged with the same offences.

Ontario Provincial Police say they were called to the scene shortly after 6 a.m. after receiving reports that a black SUV entered the parking lot, accelerated suddenly, and went over a snowbank into a ditch. The driver then left the vehicle and ran from the area, but officers located him nearby a short time later.

Following the investigation, police laid charges of impaired driving and dangerous operation. OPP noted the accused had been charged with the same offences about a month earlier in a separate incident. The man is expected to appear in court at a later date and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
