A 36-year-old has been arrested by Windsor Police Service following a high-speed impaired driving crash on Sunday, March 1, that left one person seriously injured.

The collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. near Provincial Road and Concession Road 6. Police say a vehicle traveling at high speed crossed into oncoming traffic, striking another car and pushing it toward nearby train tracks. The occupant of that vehicle suffered significant, non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect fled the scene but soon crashed into two light poles at Ducharme Street and Rockport Street. Officers found several cans of beer inside the vehicle, including one in the centre cupholder.

The driver was arrested at the scene and refused to provide a breath sample. He now faces charges of impaired operation causing bodily harm, dangerous operation causing bodily harm, and failure to comply with a demand.
