A 38-year-old woman from Waterloo has died after her vehicle went over a snowbank on the Highway 7 flyover ramp and fell onto Highway 8 below on Monday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police say the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. The driver lost control on the ramp, went over the snow embankment, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say winter weather and road conditions appear to have contributed to the collision. OPP are working with the Ministry of Transportation and road maintenance crews to address safety concerns before reopening the ramp.
The incident marked the second time a vehicle went over the embankment that day.
Update – The deceased driver is identified to be 38-year-old Uyen Nguyen.
