A 42-year-old man has been arrested following a stolen vehicle investigation in Brampton that involved a police cruiser being struck. Peel Regional Police say a semi-trailer truck was reported stolen from a repair shop near East Drive and Torbram Road on Dec. 21.

The following day, officers located the truck near Williams Parkway and Humberwest Parkway, where it was found pulling a trailer reported stolen from Halton Region days earlier.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to comply and collided with a marked police cruiser, causing significant damage. No injuries were reported. The truck continued until it could no longer operate, after which the driver ran from the scene before being arrested following a brief foot pursuit.

Nirmal Singh of Brampton now faces multiple charges, including possession of stolen property, dangerous driving, fleeing police, and possession of break-in tools and an automobile master key. Police also say he was already under a nationwide driving suspension and has been charged with additional counts related to driving while prohibited. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
