A 44-year-old man from Ottawa has died following a roadside collision on Highway 7 west of Perth early Saturday morning.
Police say the incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. between Highway 511 and Glen Tay Road. A minivan had slid into a snow-filled ditch the night before, and a tow truck was on scene attempting to recover it. While the recovery was underway, the man was standing beside his vehicle when an eastbound car struck him.
The same vehicle also collided with the tow truck. The tow truck operator was unharmed, and none of the six occupants in the car sustained injuries. The victim was transported to hospital in Ottawa, where he later died.
The affected section of Highway 7 was reopened later Saturday morning.
