A fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle occurred Friday evening in eastern Ontario, according to provincial police. The incident happened around 7:45 p.m. on County Road 17 in the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet.

The pedestrian, a 48-year-old man from Hawkesbury, was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Ontario Provincial Police, assisted by their traffic and incident management team, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

County Road 17 was temporarily closed between Boundary Road and Lajeunesse Road while police conducted their investigation but has since reopened. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash and are urging anyone with dashcam footage or relevant information to contact OPP.
