A 50-year-old man was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Ajax on Friday evening, according to Durham Regional Police.
The collision occurred around 6:40 p.m. on Taunton Road East near Warner Drive. Police say a black Acura sedan heading east struck the man as he crossed the road outside a crosswalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The female driver of the Acura was not injured and remained at the site. The roadway was closed for several hours while investigators examined the scene.
