A 58-year-old pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Windsor late Tuesday night.
According to the Windsor Police Service, officers responded to a crash in the 2800 block of Howard Avenue shortly after 11 p.m.
Emergency crews found an unresponsive man in the roadway receiving treatment from paramedics and fire personnel. Investigators say the preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a southbound vehicle on Howard Avenue.
The man was transported to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police confirmed the driver remained at the scene following the collision.
Howard Avenue was closed between Edinborough Street and Grand Marais Road East for several hours while the Windsor Police Traffic Reconstruction Unit investigated the incident.
