A 61-year-old man has died after being struck by a commercial vehicle while crossing Bayfield Street near a plaza north of Coulter Street shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The man, who suffered severe, life-threatening injuries, was taken to the hospital by paramedics but later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at a location north of the incident and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Police have also collected video footage from a nearby business to aid in their inquiry. As a result of the investigation, Bayfield Street was temporarily closed between Ferris Lane and Coulter Street, but the road has since reopened.
