A 63-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in Thamesville, according to Chatham-Kent police. The collision occurred on Dec. 29 shortly before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Selton Line and Orford Road.
Police say an SUV travelling on Orford Road entered the intersection after failing to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a pickup truck driven by a 54-year-old man from Ridgetown. The SUV was carrying an 81-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man, both from Chatham, and both were taken to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
The male passenger was later transferred to Windsor Regional Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The pickup truck driver was not hurt. Police confirmed on Jan. 1 that the man had died, and the Traffic Management Unit has assumed responsibility for the investigation.
